Japan Trade Office
The State of Montana maintains an overseas trade office in Japan. This office promotes the export of Montana manufactured and agriculture products, tourism and educational opportunities for foreign students.
The Japan Trade Office also provides Montana businesses with valuable in-country support, including:
- Trade leads
- Market research
- Trade show representation and assistance
- Support services for visiting business representatives
To learn how the Japan Trade Office can help your Montana business, contact the Office of Trade and International Relations by email or by phone: (406) 841-2750.
The first Japan Trade office opened in Tokyo in 1988. To take advantage of Montana’s close ties to its sister state Kumamoto, a second office was opened in Kumamoto City, Japan in 1990. For budgetary reasons the Tokyo office closed in 1993. The Kumamoto office continues to serve as the current Japan Trade Office. As part of a reciprocity agreement with the Montana Department of Commerce, the Japan Trade Office is occupied in rent-free space provided in the Kumamoto Prefecture Capitol Building.
