Nearly 450 Montana tourism and outdoor recreation leaders are gathering this week in Big Sky for the annual Governor's Conference on Tourism and Recreation.
The three-day conference will include three keynote speakers: Jay Baer, president of Convince and Convert, Marc Berejka, director of Government and Community Affairs for REI, and Montana's tourism marketing team will explain how science and creativity come together to make successful marketing campaigns. The event also features Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, Montana's Director of Outdoor Recreation Rachel VanderVoort, and Montana's Commerce Director Pam Haxby-Cote.
Tourism is one of Montana's top industries, bringing nearly $3.4 billion into the state's economy last year.
Montana's spectacular unspoiled nature and charming towns bring 12.5 million visitors to the state, and it's the tourism and recreation industry leaders working in every corner of Montana who provide critical on-the-ground services to those visitors once they arrive.
