Montana SBDC Lead Center Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Wins National Award for Excellence

Tuesday, April 25, 2017/Categories: Market MT, Small Business Development Center Network

HELENA, Mont. –Montana’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Rebecca Ziegler has been named the 2017 Montana “State Star,” a national award recognizing outstanding performers from America’s Small Business Development Centers (ASBDC).

“Because of Rebecca’s leadership and fresh ideas, the Montana SBDC network continues to be model for other states,” said Montana Department of Commerce Director Pam Haxby-Cote. “There’s no greater honor than being recognized by your peers.”

Criteria to win the award include exemplary performance, significant contributions to the program and a strong commitment to small business.

“Without Rebecca’s assistance, I wouldn’t be reminded to participate the way I do with all the communities and partners we serve,” said SBDC Regional Director Jason Nitschke. “Her actions show me what leadership and innovation looks like, how processes can always be refined, and how I can best provide my services.”

Since joining the Montana SBDC’s lead center in 2014, Rebecca has managed marketing efforts and coordinated events across 10 regional centers throughout Montana. She created a comprehensive marketing plan that recognizes the most efficient referral partners and promotional platforms in reaching SBDC’s diverse client base across the state.

Rebecca’s work reaches well beyond Montana. She developed the idea for SBDC Day and pitched it to Americas SBDC’s marketing committee where she was asked to build a team and carry the promotion across the nation. On March 22, 2017, the campaign was launched across social media platforms and live events with great success. Thanks to Rebecca, the ASBDC has adopted the day that will be recognized as an annual event for Small Business Development Centers throughout the nation.

“Rebecca has shown leadership ability in developing a plan and coordinating efforts across many platforms to promote our SBDC throughout Montana,” said SBDC State Director Chad Moore. “Her work has elevated our entire network and the SBDC brand while exposing the services we offer across the state.”

Ziegler will be presented the award at the SBA’s Small Business Award Luncheon in Fairmont Hot Springs Resort on Tuesday April 25.
