Indian Country Programs

Indian Country Programs provide all of the business resources available to Native American businesses and tribal governments in Montana under one office.  From the Governor appointed State Tribal Economic Development Commission comprised of economic development leaderships from each of the eight tribal nations in Montana to our finance programs (Tribal Business Planning Grant, Indian Equity Fund Small Business Grants, and Native American Collateral Support), technical assistance (Native American Business Advisors), and Native language programming (Montana Indian Language Programs), the Indian Country Programs touches many aspects of tribal economic development in Montana.

More information for each program can be seen by clicking on the picture button at the bottom of this page for each program mentioned.

Montana Indian Youth Small Business Program

This grant program is designed to give Native youth (high school and college) an opportunity to intern with local businesses to learn with small businesses in their interest area that will result in building business acumen, including experience in managing a business, improving communication and customer service skills, and fostering better understanding and deeper appreciation of success in tribal small business.Additionally, the program intends to leverage the unique perspectives and skills sets of Native youth to grow and diversify operational, marketing and product development for private sector businesses.

STED Commission Indian Equity Fund

This grant program is designed to allow tribal governments to deploy their own Indian Equity Fund type of grant to Native-owned businesses based on matched funds that each tribal government committed to the Montana State Small Business Credit Initiative (MT SSBCI).  Those match funds have now matured and are accessible by tribal governments to design and deploy grants to small businesses.
